How Medi Rent Africa collects, uses and protects personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
Who we are
Medi Rent Africa sources, procures and rents specialised medical equipment. Our head office is at Plot 151 Zeekoegat, Kameeldrift East, Derdepoort, 0035, South Africa. In this notice, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Medi Rent Africa as the responsible party under POPIA.
To be completed before go-live: the full registered legal entity name and the name of the appointed Information Officer must be inserted here and registered with the Information Regulator. This notice must not be published with these details outstanding.
What we collect
We collect only what you give us through the enquiry form on our contact page:
- your name;
- your email address;
- your telephone number;
- the equipment category you are interested in, if you select one;
- the content of your message.
Our web server also records standard technical information as part of normal operation, including your IP address and the time of your request. This is used to keep the site available and to limit automated abuse of the enquiry form.
Why we collect it, and on what basis
We use your details for one purpose: to respond to your enquiry and to discuss equipment suited to your requirements. The lawful basis is your consent, given when you submit the form, together with our legitimate interest in responding to a request you have made of us.
We do not use your details for marketing unless you separately ask us to, and we do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.
Who sees it
Enquiries are delivered by email to the Medi Rent team. Personal information may be handled by our hosting and email service providers purely as part of delivering that message. We do not share it with any other third party unless the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Enquiry correspondence is kept for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any resulting business relationship, and for a maximum of 36 months after our last contact with you, unless a longer period is required by law. Server logs are kept for a short operational period and then discarded.
How we protect it
The site is served over HTTPS, so information you submit is encrypted in transit. The enquiry form applies validation and rate limiting to reduce abuse. Access to enquiry email is limited to the staff who need it.
Cookies and tracking
This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. The only third-party request the site makes is to Google Fonts, which serves the Open Sans typeface used for body text.
Your rights
Under POPIA you may ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, to correct or delete it, or to stop using it. You may also withdraw consent at any time, and you may object to processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.
